All qualified teachers employed in a relevant school in England must complete an induction period, which bridges the gap between initial teaching training and a career in teaching. From September 2021, the government is funding this two-year induction whereby all early career teachers have access to high-quality professional development. This structured programme of development, support and professional dialogue is underpinned by the Early Career Framework (ECF) and will involve monitoring and an assessment of the ECTs performance against the Teachers Standards.
